My name is Leslie E. Tolzin. My law practice is solely devoted to criminal defense. I am a solo attorney, which means that I personally handle your case and give it the attention it deserves.
I have practiced in Washington state since 1990, and have been on my own since 1992. I have always practiced in criminal law, and since moving to my present location in Tacoma in 1996, that has been my exclusive focus. I believe that criminal defense is not something you dabble in — your lawyer needs to be "all in" to give you a shot at justice.
I handle all misdemeanor and felony charges, from DUI and drug charges to sex crimes and murder. I take cases throughout Pierce County, as well as Thurston County and King County and sometimes beyond. I have represented clients in federal court, Superior Court, county district courts and municipal courts. I personally handle your case and strive to be accessible, but my capable paralegal of 11 years, Cindy Stewart, can answer many of your questions if I am not immediately available.

I fight for my clients. It might be that one item in the police report that unravels the prosecution's case. It might be that pre-trial motion to suppress evidence. It might be taking your case to a jury. Any lawyer can plead you guilty, but that's not my style. I am willing to go to trial.

I have attended the National Criminal Defense College, and taken advanced courses in DUI defense and forensic science. I am active in several professional associations, including the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Washington Defender Association, of which I am a current board member.
I am also a strong supporter of NORML, the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws. I've seen too many good and otherwise law-abiding citizens go to jail for nothing more than drug possession.
